Some weeks ago, I wrote that 2 of 3 paintings I sent to The Mitchell Gallery , St. Johns College, Annapolis MD, were accepted by a jury to appear in their first annual, Less Is More: Small Works In a Great Space Exhibit. I received word that one of the two paintings was purchased from this exhibition. The painting that sold was "The Poppies Dance". Just to get into this exhibit was an honor and to find out that one of my paintings had sold was the icing on the cake. I am so excited about all of this, I wanted to share the news.

After an
early morning walk along the beach, she had friends for lunch overlooking the
water. Her life is easygoing in her seaside home. She is relaxed now listening
to the waves down on the beach.

As you can see,
this is not my usual color pallette. I walked into a
coffee shop in Santa Monica, there I saw her sitting at a table..The patterns and that flower in her hair and the way she was leaning
back in the chair, it was as though she stepped out of one of my
paintings.
Here she is in
the courtyard of her hotel in Tuscany, Italy. She has dreamed of this for years
and now it has come true. She is getting every moments pleasure that she can.
We've all had
this experience, I saw this happening in a small boutique restaurant in Santa
Monica. Three women were sitting in the restaurant when one of the women's cell
phone rang. She got up from the table, took her coffee with her and sat far
enough away from the others not to be heard. This scene inspired me to paint,
"Privacy".
